A Vision to Make A Difference

Consistent growth is the spirit of OIA. While infrastructure development facilitates the growth of an economy, the simultaneous progress of the society on the whole leads the nation towards a higher orbit of existence. Leveraging our reach and standing in our chosen geographies, we aim to bring about development on the social front.

Our determination to truly make a difference has enabled us to adapt a planned approach towards social growth. Working towards facilitating a self-sustained existence, we have funded the construction of a separate dormitory for school children attached to Mihur School and orphanage in Ethiopia. The timely contribution marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Ethiopia. The donation was the first step towards leaving a trail of meaningful social activities in Ethiopia.

The OIA India Eye Care Centre initiative in Ethiopia further highlights not only our zeal, but also our ability to reach out to the masses and lead them towards a better existence. This is our attempt to address the shortage of quality healthcare facilities in Ethiopia. The OIA India Eye Care Centre's dream is to start its full-fledged operations by 2010 and it plans to see 100,000 patients as well as perform 10,000 sight restoring eye surgeries per year. Its primary objective is to train the local eye care professionals to build local human resource capacities for addressing the huge need in eye care and reduce avoidable blindness in Africa. OIA's ultimate goal is to emerge as a Centre of Excellence to improve the accessibility to affordable and quality eye care in Ethiopia and the African Continent.

A new Endowment Initiative by OIA

As a unique initiative undertaken by 'OIA Africa Health and Welfare Endowment' [OIAAHWE], a Customer Contact Program was held across various public places in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The primary objective was to understand the medical needs & demands of the population. The Scope of the survey was to interview about 1700 individuals that were affected directly. They were asked inputs on customer loyalty program, services, amenities they would like to avail from the health care unit. The input received will help us to design a systematic plan of action, to ultimately reach the goal of fulfilling the need in serving the health care problem of the nation.

At 'OIAAHWE', our endeavor is to give citizens and fellow beings world class services at affordable cost, and this exercise of the Customer Contact Program has enabled us to successfully understand the scope of the project which is, offering holistic eye care centre as a gift to the African fraternity.
