THE G8 AFRICA INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT CONFERENCE
OIA Chairman, Ambassador V. B. Soni was invited as a special guest key note speaker on behalf of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at the first G8 INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT CONFERENCE held at Royal Garden Hotel, London on 29-30 June 2009.
This Event was organized by Times Publications & Corporate Africa, London with objective of creating awareness amongst the G8 Nations about a whole host of social and infrastructural developments across the continent of Africa. It was supported by the EU Trade Commission, The UK Department for Business Innovation and Skills, Governments of Nigeria, Cote d'lvoire, Ghana and South Africa.
Ambassador Soni, spoke on New Dynamism in India - Africa Economic Relations.
In his speech, Mr. Soni accentuated India economy achieving an unprecedented economic growth rate and how it was keen to pass on its experience in capacity building and skill development through transfer of technology to African countries. His speech which was well received by the audience elaborated on the following topics:

- New Business for India - developing transportation networks, infrastructure, information highways, telemedicine, etc.
- Indian Government initiatives for Africa
- Credit lines from India to African countries
- Partnerships with Indian Companies in sectors which require heavy investments in regional projects such as railway networks, roads and highway building, ports development etc.
- OIA's impressive track record in the projects development in an increasing number of countries in Africa, Latin America and former CIS countries.
