Chairman OIA Ambassador V.B. Soni chaired the Plenary session on Cambodia at the Business Forum on International Commercial Farming during May 6-7, 2010 at New Delhi, organised by FICCI jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. An OIA team led by Chairman Amb. Soni participated at the Forum on both the days.
The main objective of the business forum was to facilitate participation by the Indian private sector in agriculture sector in a few select countries. The inaugural Session was addressed by Mr. Sumant Chauduri, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, and Mr. Gurjit Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Amb. Soni, while chairing the session on Cambodia , recalled the historic ties between India and Cambodia and highlighted the immense development potential of the country. The representatives of the Governments of Ethiopia, Sudan, Mali, Mozambique, Malawi, Mongolia and Cambodia made presentations at interactive sessions over two days, in which leading Indian companies from agriculture, agricultural inputs and agro-processing industries, commodity exchanges and experts participated. |
